Vehicle parking & outdoor routes
Nova is located adjacent to and has direct vehicle and pedestrian access from the Central Beach car park on Beach Road West. Access from the car park is provided by a pedestrian footpath running alongside the South facing side of Nova. Parking for disabled visitors to Nova is immediately adjacent to the building and also has a dedicated drop off point. Pay and Display charging fees apply to all.
An automatic powered entrance door has been located centrally and on a direct alignment to the main reception desk for clarity. Lowered worktops have been provided at reception points for wheelchair users.
Accessible changing facilities and toilets
There are two accessible changing rooms. One for the fitness suite / studio and one for the swimming pool. Both have accessible shower, changing space and a WC. all with emergency pull cords. The swimming pool changing room also has an adjustable changing table / bed. There are a number of accessible toilets located around the centre as well as baby changing facilities. All accessible toilets come with emergency pull cords should the user require assistance.
A mix of varying sized lockers are provided including accessible and wheelchair lockers for the swimming pool. The quantity of wheelchair specific accessible lockers provided is two throughout the changing areas. To further distinguish from standard lockers the locker door panel colour has been changed and the lockers have been positioned in small banks throughout the changing areas in relation to dedicated accessible changing areas and toilets.
The pool has a portable transfer hoist for easy access to the pool. Transfer can be made from the individual’s wheelchair with the assistance of a member of staff.
Play offers sensory play and physical play. There are no specific access restrictions within Play however there are no lifts/hoists to the upper levels of the structure.
Fitness Centre access
All gym users have to undertake an induction prior to use of any of the equipment and this is advised to all users by staff at the time of their induction. Specific equipment is available for use according to ability and an assessment will be undertaken as part of the induction process. All Denbighshire Leisure staff are trained to provide advice on the correct, appropriate and safe use of the equipment.
There is no charge for carers who accompany disabled users for the purpose of assistance in any of our activities.
Only Guide dogs, Assistance dogs and Hearing dogs are permitted in Nova.
